I. Objective: by the end of this lesson students will revise past simple tense and the present simple

-use past simple tense to do exercises

 I.Thỡ quỏ khứ đơn:

a/.Cấu trỳc cõu:

 - Thể khẳng định: Subject + verb ( past tense)

Có hai cách chia động từ ở thỡ quỏ khứ đơn”

Đối với động từ có quy tắc: ta thêm –ed vào sau động từ nguyên mẫu.

Vd: Visit > visited work > worked watch > watched

Đặc biệt: Nếu động từ tận cùng bằng –e thỡ chỉ thờm –d: bake > baked race > raced

 Nếu động từ tận cựng bằng một phụ õm + y hóy đổi y thành i và thêm ed: dry > dried

Nhưng : stay > stayed enjoy > ẹnoyed

Nếu là động từ một vần tận cùng là một nguyên âm đơn + phụ âm, hóy gấp đôi phụ âm cuối cùng rồi thêm ed: shop > shopped wrap > wrapped plan > planned

Nếu động từ có hai vần trở lên, tận cùng bằng một nguyên âm đơn + phụ âm, và có dấu nhấn ở trên vần cuối cùng, thỡ hóy gấp đôi vần cuối cùng rồi hóy thờm ed. Khụng gấp đôi phụ âm cuối cựng nếu dấu nhấn khụng rơi vào âm cuối cùng: Occur > occurred prefer > preferred

Nhưng : enter > entered

Không gấp đôi những phụ âm cuối cùng như x, w, y: snow > snowed fix > fixed

Đối với động từ bất quy tắc: động từ quá khứ được chia ở cột 2 trong bảng động từ bất quy tắc Vd: do > did give > gave go > went

-Thể phủ định: Với động từ thường: Subject + did not + verb ( bare inf.)

Vd: you didnt understand me.

Với động từ to be ( was, were) ta thờm not sau be Vd: That was not a good story

 –Thể nghi vấn: Với động từ to be: ta đặt be ở đầu câu hỏi Vd: Were you sick?

Với động từ thường: ta đặt trợ động từ did ở đầu câu hỏi: Did + subject + verb ( bare inf. ) Vd: What did you do at Christmas?

b.Áp dụng: thỡ qua khứ đơn được dùng để chỉ:

- Hành động, sự kiện đó xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ

Tom died in 1895 /Vy visited China last year

*Nhận biết: ago, last night/ week/ month , yesterday

. - Hành động sự kiện đó thực hiện trong một khoảng thời gian ở quỏ khứ, nhưng nay hoàn toàn chấm dứt He lived in Hanoi from 1990 to 2000. ( hiện nay anh ta không cũn sống ở Hà Nội)

- Hành động thường làm hay quen làm trong quá khứ I often went swimming every Sunday last year. When she was young, she often went fishing.

c. Phỏt õm: 3 cách phát âm của những động từ có quy tắc ở dạng quá khứ đơn –ed:

 - Nếu động từ tận cùng bằng các âm /t/ hoặc /d/, thỡ ed thờm vào được đọc là /id/

Need > needed want > wanted decide > decided

- Nếu những động từ tận cùng bằng các âm /f/, /k/, /p/, /s/, /∫/, /f∫/, / ks/, thỡ ed thờm vào được đọc là /t/ Wash > washed book> booked stop > stopped ,Watch > watched

 wash > washed fax > faxed laugh > laughed

- Nếu những động từ tận cùng bằng các âm khác ngoài hai trường hợp trên, thỡ ed thờm vào được đọc là /d/ Play > played plan > planed offer > offered

 - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to remind the forms, the uses of tense or vocabulary they’ve learnt.

Procedure:
I. Grammar:
1. Present perfect tense:
- Call Ss to remind, ask Ss to make examples and then give the form and the uses.
a) Use: 
b) Form: Have/ Has + P2
c) Example:
 We have learnt English for 2 years / since 2008.
 Have you ever been to Boston?
 I haven’t met Mi Tam yet.
* Note: The P.P tense often goes with” for, since, never, ever, just, already ”
2. Past progressive tense:
? How is the past progressive verb formed? 
? What is it used for?
- Ask Ss to give the uses, the form and then make some examples with positive, negative and affirmative.
a) Use: to express an action that waas happening in definite time in the past.
b) Form: Was/ Were + V.ing
c) Example: 
 I was reading an English book at 5 pm yesterday.
 They weren’t playing tennis at that time last Sunday.
3. Passive form:
- Ask Ss to write the form of passive on the board
	FORM: Be + P2
Ex: The book was bought for me by my mother
- Call Ss remind the rules of changing from active to passive
* Note: There are tenses in active, we also have tenses in passive.
4. Reported Speech: 
? Some kinds of reported speech
* Statement: S + said +(that) + S + V ( lui thi) 
* Yes / No question: S + asked + if/whether + S + V luỡ 1 thỡ 
* Requests: S + asked / told + O + to-V 
Note: Verbs in reported speech, we must move a tense back
5. Modal verbs: 
- Call Ss to name some modal verbs they have learnt and distinguish the to use these modal verbs: must, can could, may, ought to, should, 
( Especially, to make requests, offers, )
6. Comparision:
- Comparision with “ like, ( not) as as, ( not) the same as, different from, ”
Ex: English is different from Math.
- Comparative and superlative Adj.
7. Adverbs of place and adverbs of manner in English sentence;

8. Requests: 
- Would / Do you mind + V.ing ?
- Would / Do you mind if ?
9. Other structures: 
a) Enough: 
- Call a student to write the strusture with “ enough”:
	S + be ( not) + Adj + enough + to-verb

a) Try to persuade your partner to do the following things to protect the environment.
Ex: 
A: I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or plastic bags to wrap food.
B: Why? How come?
A: Because plastic bags are very hard to dissolve, they will cause pollution. And if we use less paper, we can save trees in the forests. That’s how we can save the invironment.
* Suggestion:
1)
A: I think it would be better if we reuse and recycle bottles and cans.
B: Why ? How come ?
A: Because reusing and recycling bottles can reduce garbage and save natural resources.
2)
A: Why don’t we put garbage bins around the school yard ?
B: What for ?
A: To prevent lazy students from throwing trash. That’s how we can keep the school yard clean and protect the environment.
c) Now discuss with a partner the best way to protect the environment.
Suggestion:
1)
A: I think it would be better if we recycle used paper.
B: How can we do that? I think only factory can.
A: What about writing on sides of the paper? Everyone can do that.
B: Good idea! Let’s do that.
2)
A:Why not save plastic bags by using banana leaves to wrap food?
B: But not all food can be wrapped with banana leaves ! 
A: How about saving plastic bags, cleaning them and reusing them.
B: That’s a good idea. Let’s do that.
