 UNIT 13: NATURAL DIASTERS.
Lesson5: Speak + Listen
I. Objectives
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 - Practice speaking about what to prepare for a typhoon,
 - Listen for details to complete a table about how to live with earthquake.
II. Preparations:
- Chalk, textbook, recording, laptop, pictures about wonders of the world...
III. Procedures.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES
STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES
WARM UP (5ms)
- Show the picture about typhoon.
- Ask to answer the question by using the pictures: “What happens if there is a Typhoon?”
+ The market will be close and no food will be available
+ There may be a power cut.
+ It will be raining hard.
+ Big trees may fall down. 
+ There may be no fresh water. The water pipes may be damaged by the typhoon. 
- Lead to the new lesson: “There are some effects of typhoon, so what should we do to prepare for a typhoon? To answer these question, Let’s continue the new lesson unit 9 Natural disaster, lesson 2: speak and listen.
- Look at the picture.
- Answer the question.
- Listen to the teacher and write into notebooks.
PRE-SPEAKING(10ms)
*Teach vocabulary.
- Introduce some vocabulary by using pictures.
- Bucket (n): cái xô
- Leak (n): cái chỗ thủng,
- Ladder (n): cái thang
- Latch (n): cái chốt, then cài cửa
- Roller ( n ): trục lăn
- Block ( v ) : ngăn chặn, hạn chế
- Damage ( v ):phá hủy
- Tie (v) : buộc, trói
- Mirror (n): cái gương
- Ask students to guess the meaning of the words then check
- Ask students to listen and repeat them.
- Ask two students to read aloud the new words.
- Ask students to write down into the notebook.
*Teach structures: Make Suggestion (Review) - I think we should + V(bare-infinitive) + 
 + I think so too. / I agree with you.
 + What for? Just in case 
 + Why? Because 
Examples:
a.)
S1: I think we should buy some canned food before a typhoon. 
S2: Yes, I think so too/ I agree with you
b.) 
S1: I think we should buy a ladder.
S2: What for?
S1: Just in case we need to fix the leak in the roof.
c.)
S1: I think we should tie the roof with pegs and ropes.
S2: Why?
S1: Because there must be strong wind blowing.
- Call some pair to read the example.
- Guess the meaning of words.
- Listen and repeat
- Read aloud.
- Copy down.
- Read the example before class.

**Ask Ss to work with a partner to talk about what you think you want to buy and do to prepare for a typhoon by using structures “I think so too// I agree with you, what for?/ why?”, then explain why with these reasons in the task 2. 
- Give Ss to example:
