Aim: help ss to review some weather vocabulary b. Content: chart, weather vocabulary c. Outcome: narrative paragraph d. Organization: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I. Warm up: Brainstorming (5’) - writes the topic on the board and asks Ss to go to the board to write the words related to the topic fine wet cool cold high weather warm rainy dry hot low - gives feedback and corrects - introduces the lesson: Today you are going to listen about the weather. - write on the board (WC) - pay attention 2. Activity 2. Presentation (20') a. Aim: provide ss some new words attending to the listening task b. Content: new words, open prediction c. Outcome: ss memorise how to read and write some new words d. Pre-listening (15’) Vocabulary windy (adj) (explanation) : có gió humid (adj)(trans) : ẩm 2 degrees = 20C temperature (example) : nhiệt độ a low (trans) : nhiệt độ thấp(nhất) a high (antonym) : nhiệt độ cao nhất cloudy (adj)(e.g) : có nhiều mây Checking vocab: Slap the board Open Prediction - sets the scene: You are going to listen to the weather forecast about the weather in Sydney/ Tokyo/ London/ Bangkok/ New York/ Paris. But first, you guess and fill in the table. - runs through the table - asks Ss to guess the missing information - gets feedback and writes some guesses on the board - repeat in chorus - repeat individually - copy - work in groups of 5 - pay attention - guess - call out the guesses 3.Activity 3: Practice (10’) a. Post-listening (5’) Roleplay - gets Ss to ask and answer the questions about the weather and temperature using the information in the table Example: T: What’s the weather like in Sydney today? S: It will be dry and windy T: How about the temperature? S: The low will be 200 C and the high will be 26 degrees. - asks Ss to practice the same - calls on Ss to demonstrate their dialogues before the class - gives feedback and corrects - Listen twice and check the predictions - work in pairs - listen again - call out the answers (one student for each city) T- S - work in pairs - practice again 4. Objectives: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to obtain some knowledge about some scenic spots in the USA . 2 .Attitude: Ss are interesred in speaking about some scenic spots in the USA 3.Competencies: Communicative competence, solving problems competence, cooperation and self-study competences. They can obtain some knowledge about some scenic spots in the USA . B. Teaching aids: Picture C. Procedure: 1. Activity 1. Warm-up (5’) a. Aim: help ss get some information about USA b. Content: pictures, questions “what is it”?, “where is it?” c. Outcome: ss’knowledge about some famous places in USA: Waikiki beach, Mount Rushmore, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building d. Organization: Teacher’activities Students’activities I. Warm up: (5’) Matching - shows the pictures of some places of interest in the USA - asks Ss to guess and match each name to the right pictures + What is it? What’s its name? T: They are all places of interest - introduces the lesson: Today you are going to read about some places of interest in the USA - pay attention - answer (WC) - pay attention 2. Activity 2. Presentation (10’) a. Aim: help ss memorize some new words and make ss curious and interested in studying the conversation b. Content: vocabulary c. Outcome: ss memorise the new words d. Objectives: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write postcards to their friends about their trip. 2.Behavior: Ss are interesred in writing postcards to their friends about their trip. 3.Competencies: Communicative competence, solving problems competence, cooperation and self-study competences. They can write postcards to their friends about their trip. B. Teaching aids: C. Procedure: 1. Activity 1. Warm up: (5’) a. Aim: review simple past and make ss interested in the lesson b. Content: game “lucky stars” c. Outcome: ss’ answers d. Organization: Teacher’s activities Students’activities I. Warm up: Lucky numbers (10’) - writes the numbers on the board (There are four lucky numbers) - asks Ss to choose their numbers and answer the questions briefly 1. Where did Mrs Quyen and her husband spend their holiday? 2. Lucky number 3. What did they see on Mount Rushmore? 4. Who did they visit when they were in the USA? 5. Lucky number 6. What did Mrs Quyen do while her husband was visiting the Statue of Liberty? 7. Lucky number 8. What did Mrs Quyen buy? 9. What did she send to her children from the USA? 10. Lucky number - introduces the lesson: Have you ever written a postcard? Today you are going to learn how to write a postcard. - work in 2 teams (in the USA) (the heads of four ...) Pre-writing (10’) Gap-fill: Ex1-P 118 - sets the scene: From the USA, Mrs Quyen sent a postcard to her friend Sally to tell her about the trip.
